The Pacific War Armies 1879-84 (Chile, Bolivia and Peru)

15mm Pewter Figurines : Packs contain 8 foot figures or 4 mounted (or otherwise described)

The War of the Pacific was a South American conflict that took place from 1879-1884 in which the forces of Chile fought against a defensive alliance of Bolivia and Peru. Also known as the "SaltpeterWar, 10 cents War or Guano War", the war arose from disputes over the control of territory that contained substantial mineral-rich deposits. The wikipedia entry gives a reasonable overview of the conflict LINK Although the conflict was dominated by the Chileans who had the larger army, there are colourful unforms on all sides and as the battles were fought over many types of terrain (and even had guerilla style attacks) it makes a great opportunity for a lively campaign game.

CAVALRY

NB - there was not a lot of Cavalry used in the conflict (the Bolivians even had to use mules when they ran out of horses!), as you will only need a few packs / side, to keep costs down we have only provided a single horse pose. If you really want more (or want to commission more) - get in touch!

ARTILLERY

NB - All sides used a mixture of German Krupp and British Armstrong or Blakely cannon (especially after they had captured some of each other's artillery!). There also seems to be some references to Peru having bought French pieces, but not what they actually were(probably the Reyffe Breech loader but we cannot support this). Given they are from the same period, the guns below are from our Franco-Prussian range as we can find no evidence of different carriages being used.
